MediaTek has officially announced the launch date of its next generation flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9500. The company revealed that the chipset will debut on September 22 and marks a significant milestone as it is the first MediaTek processor designed using TSMC’s 2nm N2P process. This places MediaTek among the first companies to embrace one of the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing technologies in the world.
Launch Date and CPU Details
According to the company, the Dimensity 9500 will be unveiled on September 22 at 2pm local time in China which translates to 4:30pm IST. While MediaTek has not shared full specifications, reports suggest the chip will feature a 1 plus 3 plus 4 CPU layout. This includes one Travis core clocked at 4.21GHz, three Alto cores at 3.5GHz, and four Gelas cores at 2.7GHz. These belong to Arm’s latest X9 series and upgraded A7 line, designed to push performance and energy efficiency to new levels.
Graphics and Gaming Performance
The Dimensity 9500 is expected to bring major improvements in gaming. It is rumored to feature a Mali G1 Ultra MC12 GPU with up to 40 percent higher efficiency. Ray tracing performance is also set to improve significantly, with reports claiming that ray traced gaming could go beyond 100 frames per second. This leap could make flagship smartphones powered by the new chip serious contenders for high end mobile gaming experiences.
AI and Memory Capabilities
Beyond raw performance, MediaTek is also pushing AI power. The chip is expected to feature NPU 9.0 delivering 100 TOPS of AI performance. Other highlights may include 16MB L3 cache, 10MB SLC, SME instruction support, LPDDR5x memory at 10,667Mbps, and UFS 4.1 storage support for lightning fast data transfer speeds.
First Phones to Use Dimensity 9500
Smartphone makers are already preparing to showcase the new chipset in their upcoming flagships. The Vivo X300 series and Oppo Find X9 lineup are expected to be among the first devices to launch with the Dimensity 9500 later this year.
Built on TSMC’s 2nm Process
Perhaps the most important development is MediaTek’s collaboration with TSMC to design a processor on the N2P 2nm process. This technology is the first to use nanosheet transistor design and promises up to 18 percent higher performance at the same power, 36 percent lower power at the same speed, and 1.2 times greater logic density compared to the N3E process. Mass production of this process is expected by late 2026, and the Dimensity 9600 could be the first to arrive from this phase.
The Dimensity 9500 represents MediaTek’s bold step into the next era of mobile computing. With cutting edge gaming, AI, and efficiency improvements, this chipset could set the stage for a new wave of premium smartphones.
