Honor is reportedly gearing up to introduce a major battery powerhouse in its mid range lineup. The upcoming Honor X70, set to succeed last year’s Honor X60, may come equipped with an enormous 8,300mAh battery. This would mark one of the largest batteries seen in any mainstream smartphone. A new leak also suggests it will be paired with 80W fast charging support and the latest Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, positioning the phone as a serious contender in the performance and longevity department.
According to reports shared on Chinese platform Weibo, the Honor X70 will feature a large 6.79 inch screen with 1.5K resolution. While the panel type is yet to be confirmed, it is expected to match or improve upon the 120Hz TFT LCD seen on the previous Honor X60. A display of this size, combined with a higher resolution, indicates that the device is likely aimed at users who consume a lot of media or require a larger viewing space for gaming and multitasking.
Performance will be handled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset. This would be a shift from the MediaTek Dimensity processor used in the previous model, marking a significant step up in terms of efficiency and graphic capabilities. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is designed to balance power and battery life, which becomes even more meaningful when paired with the massive battery capacity being tipped for this phone.
The 8,300mAh battery would be a big upgrade over the 5,800mAh unit found in the Honor X60. If accurate, this increase promises extended usage time even for power users. Charging speeds are expected to reach 80W through wired methods. Additionally, wireless charging may be supported, but only for the 512GB variant of the phone. This signals a shift towards creating differentiated premium experiences even within the same model lineup.
Leaks also suggest the Honor X70 will be available in four color options including White, Blue, Black, and Red. The standard version of the phone is expected to weigh around 193 grams and measure 7.7mm in thickness. In comparison, the high end 512GB model, which includes wireless charging support, may be slightly thicker and heavier at 7.9mm and 199 grams respectively.
The new Honor X70 is shaping up to be more than just a routine refresh. With its bigger battery, newer chipset, wireless charging options, and potential design refinements, the phone could offer a well rounded package for users looking for both endurance and modern features. However, Honor has not officially confirmed any of these details yet, so the final specifications and features may still vary.
