A Proud Indian Breakthrough in New York

Nav Wireless Technologies, headquartered in Gujarat, has announced a landmark achievement by deploying what it calls America’s first commercial LiFi internet network in New York City. The installation was completed at the Silicon Harlem office through a collaboration with US-based JESCO Venture Labs, a business consulting company that focuses on innovative technologies.

This project positions India at the forefront of next-generation connectivity solutions, signaling a new phase in global digital infrastructure. According to a company statement, the deployment marks the beginning of a broader US rollout that aims to demonstrate how Indian-developed technology can transform high-speed communication systems worldwide.

“A Proud Moment for India,” Says CTO Hardik Soni

Hardik Soni, Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder of Nav Wireless Technologies, called the milestone a defining moment not only for the company but for India as a whole. “Launching LiFi in New York is not just a milestone for Nav Wireless, it is a proud moment for India,” he said.

He emphasized that the success of this project represents how made-in-India innovations are now shaping the world’s digital future. “LiFi offers connectivity that is faster, safer, and interference-free. This achievement shows that Indian engineering can lead the next generation of communication technology,” Soni added.

Nav Wireless also noted that it is among the few global companies to hold patented LiFi technology, highlighting its role as a pioneer in optical wireless communication.

How LiFi Differs From Traditional WiFi

LiFi, short for Light Fidelity, operates using visible light instead of radio frequencies to transmit data. The technology leverages existing LED lighting systems or specially designed light sources to send information through modulated light waves.

This approach allows LiFi to deliver extremely high data speeds with lower latency compared to WiFi. It also eliminates electromagnetic interference, making it ideal for sensitive environments such as hospitals, airplanes, and defense installations.

However, unlike WiFi, which offers broad coverage and can penetrate walls, LiFi relies on line-of-sight communication and has a shorter operational range. Despite this limitation, its speed, security, and energy efficiency make it one of the most promising technologies for future 6G networks.

Expanding the LiFi Revolution Across America

Following the success of its New York deployment, Nav Wireless plans to extend LiFi connectivity across multiple sectors in the United States. The company’s expansion roadmap includes government agencies, universities, hospitals, airports, and financial institutions. Through its partnership with JESCO Venture Labs, Nav Wireless aims to position LiFi as a practical alternative to traditional wireless infrastructure, particularly in settings that demand high-speed, interference-free communication.

The company also revealed that this initiative lays the groundwork for what it calls a “6G-ready optical wireless future,” setting the stage for an era of ultra-fast, light-based networking.

A Step Toward India’s Global Tech Leadership

The launch of LiFi in New York not only marks a milestone for Nav Wireless but also reflects India’s growing influence in frontier technologies. As global attention shifts to sustainable, high-capacity communication networks, the success of an Indian company in deploying this innovation on US soil underscores the country’s potential to lead the digital revolution.

By combining indigenous innovation with international collaboration, Nav Wireless is redefining what Indian tech companies can achieve on the world stage.
