A potential Google Pixel 10 prototype has appeared online weeks ahead of its expected official unveiling. Spotted on a Chinese auction site called Xianyu, the device is believed to be part of Google's Engineering Validation Testing phase, which typically comes just before the final production stage. This unexpected leak has triggered excitement and speculation among tech enthusiasts, especially as the listing included photos and details about the phone's internal hardware.
The prototype in question reportedly features a design that remains in line with Google's current visual identity. The device includes rounded corners, a flat edged profile, and the signature horizontal camera strip on the back, all of which suggest that Google is maintaining its consistent design language. What’s new, however, is the addition of a third camera lens on the rear panel. This would mark a step forward from the dual camera setup on the Pixel 9, indicating that the Pixel 10 may come equipped with a dedicated telephoto lens. This addition aligns with earlier rumors hinting at significant improvements to the Pixel 10's photography capabilities.
Internally, the leaked motherboard bears the Tensor G5 label and includes an SEC marking, which has led to further speculation about the chip manufacturer. While the presence of the SEC marking suggests a Samsung origin, multiple reports over the past year have indicated Google’s intention to move its Tensor chip production to TSMC starting with the G5 series. The appearance of a Samsung labeled G5 chip has therefore created confusion about whether this unit reflects Google’s initial plans or a transitional test build.
Though the listing did not offer clarity on the final chip supplier, it gave enthusiasts an early look into what might be powering Google's next generation flagship. The seller also included multiple warnings to avoid scammers but provided few new insights beyond what the photos already revealed. Notably, the Google "G" logo is clearly visible on the prototype unit, further suggesting its authenticity, though this remains unverified.
The Pixel 10 series is expected to be officially announced on August 13. Until then, this prototype leak remains an intriguing but unofficial peek at what Google might be preparing. The added telephoto lens, familiar design, and Tensor G5 chip all point toward a device that builds upon the Pixel 9 while pushing its capabilities further. As always, the final confirmation will arrive only when Google steps forward with the official reveal.
