Samsung is once again gearing up to push the boundaries of mobile technology. After years of foldable innovation, the company is now reportedly set to launch its first tri-fold smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold. According to fresh leaks, the official unveiling could take place on September 29 in South Korea during a dedicated Galaxy Unpacked event. The excitement does not stop there. The same event is expected to showcase Samsung’s upcoming XR headset, codenamed Project Moohan, along with a pair of AI-powered smart glasses that might arrive under the name Galaxy Glasses.
The Galaxy Z TriFold has already been teased earlier this year during the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 showcase in January, but Samsung did not reveal a timeline for release at the time. Now, new reports point to the device making its official debut before the end of the month.
What We Know About the Galaxy Z TriFold
The Galaxy Z TriFold is rumored to come with a G-style inward folding design, allowing users to transform the device from a compact smartphone into a large-screen tablet. In its fully unfolded state, the display could measure up to 9.96 inches, while in the folded form it may feature a 6.54-inch panel. This flexible design aims to combine portability with productivity, positioning the Z TriFold as a premium hybrid device.
Under the hood, the tri-fold smartphone is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and run on Android 16 with Samsung’s One UI 8 interface. Reports also suggest a triple rear camera system and a next-generation silicon-carbon battery, designed to offer higher energy density and longer life compared to standard lithium-ion cells.
Samsung is reportedly limiting the initial production run to around three lakh units or fewer, with availability restricted to markets like China and South Korea. This approach may be a way to test consumer response before considering a wider rollout.
Other Products to Expect
The September 29 event will not just be about the Galaxy Z TriFold. The highly anticipated Project Moohan XR headset is also expected to make its first appearance. The device is believed to deliver immersive virtual and mixed reality experiences, with a price expected to range between KRW 2.5 million and KRW 4 million. Sales in South Korea could begin as early as October 13.
Adding to the excitement, Samsung may also introduce its first pair of AI-powered smart glasses, reportedly called Galaxy Glasses. These glasses are said to integrate seamlessly with Samsung’s ecosystem, potentially offering users hands-free control and AI-driven assistance.
