Samsung’s popular M series is about to get a new addition, and it is already making waves before its official launch. The Samsung Galaxy M17 5G has reportedly been listed on the Google Play Console, offering a first detailed look at what the next mid-range contender from the brand could bring to the table. Interestingly, the listing suggests that this smartphone could also arrive under another name the Samsung Galaxy F17 5G much like previous rebranded releases from the company.
The Galaxy M17 5G is expected to be a close sibling to the recently launched Galaxy A17 5G, which made its debut in select global markets. That phone came equipped with Samsung’s 5nm Exynos 1330 chipset, a large 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, and an IP54-rated design for added durability. If the leaks are accurate, the M17 5G will follow a similar path, bringing strong hardware to the competitive mid-range market.
According to the Google Play Console listing, the Galaxy M17 5G will be powered by the same Exynos 1330 processor, paired with at least 4GB of RAM, and will run Android 15 out of the box with Samsung’s latest One UI 7 interface. The display is listed as an Infinity-U panel with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels and a 450dpi screen density, promising crisp visuals for streaming, gaming, and day-to-day use. The rear camera setup is likely to adopt a vertical, pill-shaped module design, which could house a versatile dual or triple-lens arrangement.
If Samsung keeps things in line with the Galaxy A17 5G, buyers can expect a 50-megapixel main sensor, accompanied by additional lenses for depth or macro photography. On the front, a 13-megapixel selfie shooter should handle video calls and self-portraits. Battery life is expected to be another strong point, with a large 5,000mAh unit and 25W fast charging, ensuring the phone stays powered throughout the day.
Rebranding across Samsung’s M, F, and A series has been a common practice in recent years. The Galaxy M15 5G, Galaxy F15 5G, and Galaxy A15 5G were essentially different versions of the same device, customized for specific markets and retail partners. It seems the M17 5G and F17 5G will continue this trend, giving buyers more options depending on their region.
With a balance of performance, display quality, battery endurance, and the latest software, the Samsung Galaxy M17 5G looks set to be a compelling choice for those who want modern features without stretching to flagship prices. While there is no confirmed launch date yet, its appearance on the Google Play Console is a strong hint that the official debut could be just around the corner.
