Samsung’s next-generation chipset, the Exynos 2500, is now officially confirmed to support satellite-based emergency messaging. With this new capability, the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to offer reliable connectivity even in remote areas without cellular networks.

The confirmation comes from Skylo, a US-based non-terrestrial network provider, which has certified the Exynos 2500 mobile platform for satellite connectivity. This makes the processor Samsung’s most advanced yet, aligning with global standards for space-based communication as laid out by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project.

The Exynos 2500 features the Exynos 5400 5G modem, which was also seen in the earlier Exynos 2400 that powered the Galaxy S24 series. This modem enables the chipset to maintain connectivity over satellite networks when ground-based cellular infrastructure is unavailable. According to Samsung, the Exynos 2500 will improve both energy efficiency and performance compared to its predecessor.

Satellite messaging could be a critical feature in emergency scenarios, allowing users to reach out to authorities or loved ones when stranded in areas with no mobile coverage. Samsung has yet to provide detailed information on how this technology will be implemented within its ecosystem, but its inclusion in the Exynos 2500 marks a significant leap in mobile safety and communication.

The chip is expected to power the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which may debut at Samsung’s next Unpacked event in New York. The Exynos 2500 is built using Samsung’s in-house 3 nanometer process and is said to include a 10 core CPU with a peak clock speed of 3.3GHz. It also integrates the Xclipse 950 GPU and supports 16 megabytes of L3 cache, making it a highly capable platform for premium smartphones.

Samsung initially intended the Exynos 2500 to launch with the Galaxy S25 series, but the plan was reportedly delayed due to yield issues in chip production. Now with satellite certification in place and advanced specs confirmed, the chipset is poised to power Samsung’s next wave of foldables, adding more functionality and future readiness to the company’s flagship offerings.
