First Rollout for Galaxy S25 Series
Samsung has officially launched the Android 16 based One UI 8 rollout, starting with the Galaxy S25 series. The update, sized at 3.8 GB, is currently live in South Korea and will expand globally in the coming days. Users of the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra are among the first to receive the update, which is also expected to reach India soon. Early adopters have already begun downloading the new version, which includes both stability improvements and exciting new features.
Wider Rollout and Eligible Devices
Samsung has confirmed that One UI 8 will make its way to several older Galaxy devices later this year. The list includes the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, and the Galaxy S24 FE, along with previous generations like the Galaxy S23, S22, and even select A series devices such as the Galaxy A56, A36, and A16. The update will also reach Galaxy Tab models including the Tab S10, Tab S9, and Tab S8 lines, ensuring that both premium and mid range users benefit from the new features.
Key Features of One UI 8
One UI 8 brings a major upgrade in AI integration, powered by Google Gemini, allowing the system to provide context aware suggestions, reminders, and shortcuts tailored to user habits. Generative Edits and Chat Assist, which debuted on the latest Galaxy flagships, will now be available to older devices as well, expanding access to Samsung’s AI tools.
The update introduces an enhanced Now Bar and Now Brief that offer live notifications from more apps, improving multitasking and user efficiency. A standout feature is the redesigned split screen mode. Unlike the traditional fixed 50:50 split, the new version allows one app to be dragged to the edge of the screen, keeping it partially hidden while freeing up more space for the primary app. This gives users greater flexibility and control over multitasking.
How to Download the Update
Users will receive a notification when the update is ready for their device. Alternatively, they can check manually by going to Settings and selecting Software Update. Once available, the option to download and install will appear. Samsung recommends backing up data before installation to avoid any potential data loss during the upgrade process.
What This Means for Galaxy Users
The One UI 8 update marks another step forward in Samsung’s efforts to keep its devices at the cutting edge of software innovation. By extending advanced AI features and usability improvements across its lineup, Samsung is ensuring that both new and existing customers benefit from the latest Android experience.
