Google’s Pixel lineup has always stood out for its clean Android experience and industry-leading cameras. However, when it comes to raw performance, the story has often been different. The shift to Google’s own Tensor processors promised optimization tailored to AI and machine learning, but not necessarily the same brute power offered by Qualcomm or Apple. Now, with the launch of the Pixel 10 Pro XL, early performance tests are shedding light on how well the new Tensor G5 holds up in the real world.

According to benchmark results posted by a Reddit user, the Pixel 10 Pro XL achieved a total score of over 1.17 million on AnTuTu. At first glance, this sounds impressive, but a closer look at the breakdown reveals a more complicated picture. The CPU score sits at around 415,000, which is in line with processors such as the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 Plus. This marks about a fifteen percent jump compared to the Pixel 9 Pro XL, which is certainly a welcome improvement for users who rely on speed and multitasking.

The problem arises in the graphics department. The Pixel 10 Pro XL is powered by a PowerVR GPU that scored just under 370,000 on AnTuTu. For context, last year’s Pixel 9 Pro XL managed over 440,000 with its Mali GPU. This means the new phone actually shows a drop of nearly twenty percent in GPU performance compared to its predecessor. Gamers and heavy graphics users may feel the impact, as the score puts the Pixel 10 Pro XL’s GPU performance closer to older chips like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 rather than the latest generation.

This is not to say that the Pixel 10 Pro XL lacks strengths. The device boasts a stunning 6.8 inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness that reaches up to 3,000 nits, making it one of the brightest screens on the market. The camera system remains a major highlight, with a 50 megapixel main sensor, a 48 megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 48 megapixel ultrawide lens. Selfie enthusiasts get a 42 megapixel front camera, while the 5,200mAh battery ensures strong longevity, supported by both wired and wireless fast charging.

Still, the benchmark results suggest that Google’s strategy continues to prioritize AI features, computational photography, and overall user experience over pushing the boundaries of raw performance. For users who care most about gaming or graphics-heavy tasks, rivals like Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra or Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max may remain more attractive options.

The Pixel 10 Pro XL is currently priced at Rs 1,24,999 in India for the 256GB variant, available in Jade, Moonstone, and Obsidian finishes. For loyal Pixel fans, the phone still delivers on display, cameras, and Google’s software magic, but those expecting a leap in power might come away underwhelmed.
