Apple has begun rolling out its much awaited iOS 26 update for iPhones, along with iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe for iPads and Mac devices. First showcased at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2025), the updates bring Apple’s new Liquid Glass technology, AI powered Apple Intelligence features, upgraded lock screens, and several performance improvements.

iOS 26 Eligible iPhones

The iOS 26 update will come pre installed on the iPhone 17 series and iPhone Air when they go on sale on September 19. In addition, the following models are eligible for the update via an over the air rollout:

  • iPhone 17 series

  • iPhone Air

  • iPhone 16e

  • iPhone 16 series

  • iPhone 15 series

  • iPhone 14 series

  • iPhone SE (2022)

  • iPhone 13 series

  • iPhone 12 series

  • iPhone 11 series

iPadOS 26 Eligible iPads

Apple has also confirmed the list of iPads that can install the iPadOS 26 update. This includes the latest models as well as older versions still widely in use:

  • iPad Pro (M4)

  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and newer)

  • iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and newer)

  • iPad Air (3rd generation and newer, including M2 and M3)

  • iPad (8th generation and newer, including A16)

  • iPad mini (5th generation and newer, including A17 Pro)

macOS Tahoe Eligible Macs

Alongside iPhones and iPads, Apple is rolling out macOS Tahoe for Macs. The update is compatible with devices including:

  • MacBook Air with Apple silicon (2020 and newer)

  • MacBook Pro with Apple silicon (2020 and newer)

  • MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)

  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)

  • iMac (2020 and newer)

  • Mac mini (2020 and newer)

  • Mac Studio (2022 and newer)

  • Mac Pro (2019 and newer)

How to Download the Updates

Users can head to Settings > General > Software Update on iPhones and iPads to check for iOS 26 or iPadOS 26. On Macs, the update can be found under Apple Menu > System Settings > General > Software Update. Apple recommends backing up your device before installation to keep data safe.

These new updates mark one of Apple’s biggest software pushes in recent years, blending AI tools with sleek design upgrades to give users a more personalized and futuristic experience.
