A Stylish Upgrade to Smart Glasses
At its annual Connect 2025 event, Meta unveiled the Ray-Ban 2nd Gen glasses, a major upgrade to its first-generation model. The new wearable combines fashion with functionality, featuring better cameras, enhanced microphones, AI-powered tools, and more customization in styles.
The glasses aim to redefine how people capture content, communicate, and interact with the world by blending Meta’s AI technology into an everyday accessory.
Sharper Video and Smarter Recording
The standout feature of the new Ray-Ban smart glasses is their ability to record video in 3K Ultra HD with ultrawide HDR. This is more than double the pixel quality of the first generation. Later this year, Meta will add hyperlapse and slow-motion recording, making it easier for users to shoot creative clips hands-free.
Battery Life That Keeps Up With You
One of the biggest complaints with the first generation was limited battery life. Meta has now doubled it, with up to eight hours of typical use. The charging case extends this by an additional 48 hours, ensuring the glasses are ready to go all weekend. Fast charging also provides up to 50 percent battery in just a few minutes.
Conversation Focus and AI-Powered Translation
The new Conversation Focus feature uses the open-ear speakers to amplify the voice of the person you are talking to, cutting through background noise. While it won’t be available at launch, Meta says it will arrive in a future update.
Meanwhile, live translation has been expanded. In addition to English, Spanish, French, and Italian, the glasses now support German and Portuguese, with more languages to come. Users will even be able to use the feature offline if they download the language packs in advance.
More Frames and Styles to Choose From
Style remains at the core of Ray-Ban’s appeal, and the second generation is no exception. Alongside the classic Wayfarer, Meta has introduced two new designs: Skyler and Headliner. This variety makes the glasses more appealing to a broader audience looking for wearable tech that fits seamlessly into their personal style.
Pricing and Availability
The Ray-Ban 2nd Gen glasses are priced at 379 dollars and are available in most markets where the original model was sold. Indian consumers, however, will need to wait until later this fall for their release.
With their combination of upgraded performance, AI features, and stylish frames, the new Ray-Ban smart glasses could mark a turning point in mainstream wearable tech.
