Google is making online shopping a whole lot smarter and more personal with its new AI-powered virtual try-on feature. After teasing the technology at Google I/O earlier this year, the tech giant has now begun rolling it out to users in the United States. The feature is integrated directly into AI Mode in Search, Google Shopping, and even Google Images, bringing a new level of realism and convenience to digital fashion discovery.
With just a full-length photo, users can now see exactly how clothing items would look on them. This is not a basic overlay or a generic preview. Google’s advanced fashion-specific AI model takes into account body structure, fabric flow, drape, stretch, and fit. It simulates the way clothes will actually appear when worn, using real product data and visual intelligence to deliver a surprisingly accurate virtual fitting room experience.
Here’s how it works. When users search for an outfit in AI Mode or browse Google Shopping, they will see a “try it on” icon next to supported items. Tapping that opens a prompt to upload a full-body image. Once uploaded, the feature instantly creates a realistic preview of how the outfit would look. You can swipe through different styles, compare looks you have tried on before, save your favorites, and even share outfit options with friends. All of this happens in seconds.
The virtual try-on tool is part of Google’s broader Shopping Graph initiative, which organizes billions of listings to help users discover and evaluate products more easily. But this update goes beyond just fashion. Google is also updating its price tracking system. You can now set alerts not only for prices but also for specific sizes and colors, ensuring you only get notified when your preferred variant is available at your desired cost.
That’s not all. Google is working on a conversational product discovery feature as well. Soon, you’ll be able to describe the look you want or the event you’re dressing for directly to the AI. Based on your request, it will search through product listings and show you tailored recommendations using visual matching technology. This feature is expected to roll out in the US later this year.
With this launch, Google is not just upgrading shopping tools. It is redefining the way we discover and experience fashion online, making virtual trial rooms feel like the real deal.
