Google’s Gemini Live is becoming more powerful and practical with its latest update, as the AI assistant can now directly connect to Google Calendar, Google Maps, and Google Tasks. This means you can speak to Gemini Live in real time and have it create a calendar entry, find the best route to your destination, or add tasks to your to-do list all without lifting a finger.
The integration, which was first teased at Google I/O in May, is now rolling out widely to users around the world. What makes this update even better is that it is available to everyone, not just paid subscribers. Whether you are using the free version or have a premium plan, you can now take advantage of these seamless app connections.
When speaking to Gemini Live, the AI will automatically detect if your request can be fulfilled using one of the connected apps. For example, if you ask it to “find the quickest route to the nearest coffee shop,” it will launch Google Maps directly with the directions ready. Similarly, telling it to “add a meeting with John at 3 PM tomorrow” will create a Calendar event instantly. You can also be more direct by telling Gemini Live exactly which app to use for the task.
During testing, the feature worked efficiently and without noticeable delays. Whenever Gemini Live connects to one of the apps, you will see an icon at the bottom of your screen confirming the link. After the interaction ends, you can review the action taken through a small box that appears in the Gemini Live interface. Tapping it will take you directly into Calendar, Maps, or Tasks, where you can see and edit the entry or route.
This functionality works across both Android and iOS devices, ensuring users on any platform can enjoy the same benefits. It is also complemented by Gemini Live’s recently introduced real-time captions feature, which displays text as the AI speaks. This is particularly helpful in noisy environments or when your device’s volume is low or muted.
