Google has officially announced a massive $15 billion investment in India to build its first AI hub and data center in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The announcement came during the company’s Bharat AI Shakti event in New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the initiative as a key milestone toward achieving the nation’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
This project, the largest undertaken by Google outside the United States, will create a 1-gigawatt artificial intelligence data center campus in collaboration with the Adani Group, integrating clean energy solutions and high-performance computing to power India’s growing digital ecosystem.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai described the new hub as the company’s most significant step in advancing AI innovation in India. “This is the largest AI hub we are investing in anywhere in the world outside the US,” Pichai said. “The new AI hub brings gigawatt-scale compute capacity, a subsea gateway, and energy infrastructure that will accelerate AI development and empower enterprises across India.”
