New Delhi: Oppo, a leading smartphone manufacturer, anticipates sustained double-digit growth in its Reno series sales with the launch of the Reno 12, according to Peter Dohyung Lee, Oppo's Head of Product Strategy. Speaking at the Reno 12 series launch, Lee emphasized the company's commitment to integrating AI features into entry-level smartphones.

"Reno has been well-received in India, maintaining double-digit growth year-on-year since 2021. We expect this trend to continue with the new series," Lee stated.

Market Dynamics and New Offerings

Despite a market share decline from 12% to 10.1% in the March 2024 quarter, Oppo remains optimistic. The company unveiled the Reno12 Pro 5G and Reno12 5G models, featuring AI enhancements for photography and productivity. The Reno12 Pro 5G, priced at Rs 36,999 for 256 GB and Rs 40,999 for 512 GB, will be available from July 18. The Reno 12, with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, will retail at Rs 32,999 starting July 25.

AI Integration and Strategic Collaborations

Lee highlighted Oppo's focus on localized AI for photography, improved battery features, and plans to bring Generative AI capabilities to around 50 million users globally this year. "Oppo has filed over 5,600 patents related to AI. By the end of 2024, we will integrate Gen AI features across our entire smartphone lineup," he added.

Oppo's collaboration with Google and Microsoft further supports their AI advancements. Lee assured that Oppo will not use user data to develop its AI, reinforcing its commitment to user privacy.
